Kill Your Ego Before It Kills Your Progress

This week, I had to look in the mirror and be honest with myself.

The thing standing between me and the next level wasn’t lack of skill, time, or opportunity

It was ego.

Not the loud, arrogant, in-your-face kind.
But the quiet kind.

The kind that tells you:
“I’ve got this on my own.”
“I don’t need help.”
“I’m too good for that feedback.”
“I already know how to do it.”

And the more I reflected, the more I realised, ego has killed more dreams than failure ever will.

Ego has started wars.
Destroyed partnerships.
Ruined progress.
And delayed purpose.

Here’s what I want you to know:

When I say kill your ego, I don’t mean be timid, shy, or soft.
You already know how I feel about showing up with delirious confidence (see last week’s post).

But ego and confidence are not the same thing.

Confidence says: “I believe in myself.”

Ego says: “I don’t need anyone else.”

Confidence is secure.

Ego is fragile and loud.

Confidence grows you.

Ego protects you from growth, from feedback, from reality.

Here’s how to know when your ego is quietly blocking your blessings:

1. You stop asking for help.
You’d rather struggle in silence than admit you don’t know something. That’s pride, not strength.

2. You reject feedback that stings even when it’s true.
You'd rather be right than better. Growth requires being uncomfortable. Ego avoids that at all costs.

3. You start seeing people as competition instead of potential collaborators.
Ego creates separation. Wisdom builds bridges.

Non-Negotiable Action for the Week
Find one area in your life or business where ego might be limiting you. Then ask someone you trust for honest feedback. Not validation—truth. Listen. Don’t defend. Just take it in.

Quote of the Week
"More the knowledge, lesser the ego. Lesser the knowledge, more the ego." – Albert Einstein

Because the next level you’re praying for? It requires a you that’s free from the weight of proving anything.

Stay bold. Stay relentless.

P.S. I had to check myself this week, what’s one area where your ego might be in the way? Hit reply and let’s talk.
