Struggle Isn’t the Problem. Avoiding It Is.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4

This might help you overcome the season you’re in….

Because I’ve been thinking about struggle a lot lately. Why we go through it.

Why it seems like it hits hardest when we’re trying to grow.

And why most of us are taught to run from it, numb it, or push it down.

But here’s what I realised: You cannot grow without struggle.

And I don’t say that to sound deep or wise. I say it because I’ve lived it.

You have too, you just might not have slowed down enough to see it clearly.

I want you to ask yourself something: Would you actually enjoy life if everything came easy?

At first, you’ll probably say yes.

I used to say the same.

But let’s be real.

If every deal landed,
If every idea worked,
If every relationship was smooth,
If money flowed like water…

Would you be grateful?
Would you be strong?
Would you even know who you are?

Because I know this for certain: The versions of myself that I’m most proud of they didn’t come from comfort. They came from pressure.

From rejection.
From heartbreak.
From silence.
From failure.

And every single time I thought I was being buried, God was planting something deeper in me.

Struggle is shaping and sharpening you.

It's where God chisels off the parts of us that can't go where we're trying to go.

You don’t build discipline when things are easy.
You don’t learn trust when everything’s working.
You don’t get real wisdom until you’ve had to live without the answers.

So if you're in a season right now where everything feels heavy
where the business isn’t clicking,
where you’re showing up but nothing’s moving,
where you feel spiritually dry
I want to offer a perspective shift.

Ask: What is God trying to develop in me?

Because He doesn’t waste pain.
And if you’re going through something,
it’s not just happening to you.
It might be happening for you.

Here's what I've learned about struggle:

  • It forces you to slow down and reflect

  • It teaches you what really matters

  • It exposes the areas you’ve been hiding from

  • And if you let it, it will give you wisdom that no book, course, or podcast ever could

NON-NEGOTIABLE ACTION THIS WEEK:

If you’re in a struggle right now, stop pretending you’re not.
Don’t numb it. Don’t power through it. Don’t throw fake positivity on it.

Sit with it. Ask God what He’s trying to show you.
And don’t move until you hear something.

That clarity might be the thing that changes your entire direction.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Sometimes what feels like God holding you back is actually Him holding you together." David Olusegun

You may feel like you’re breaking. But what if you’re actually becoming?

This life won’t always be easy. But if you lean into the hard with open eyes and an open heart you’ll come out more grounded, more powerful, and more prepared.

Keep going, you’re not being punished.

Stay bold. Stay relentless.

David
